TEXT, LANGUAGE &
My goal is to create a text that sounds like it was written in Swedish to begin with, whilst still keeping
the same tone and style as the original text. For example, I can move, delete and add words and phrases,
move around, split and merge sentences and many other things – everything I can to make sure your text sounds just as good and natural in Swedish as it does in English. A really good translation shouldn't look
like a translation.
I'm a member of SFÖ (The Swedish Association of Professional Translators) and of course follow
their rules and regulations.
I own and work in:
And can also work in:
I translate things like:
It can be things like texts for your website, a newsletter, or a script for an information film. We'll go through and
analyse your needs together: purpose and message, tone and style, target audience, etc.
All projects include at least three drafts (if needed) and I listen to all your feedback between each draft. Every
text is a collaboration and the goal is a final product that we're both happy with!
My name is Sofia Englund and I started Arctic Ink in 2012. The name symbolises my northern roots and the ink in a pen (and printer). I translate and write texts for clients all over the world: translation agencies, advertising agencies, production companies and other small to large businesses in different industries.
I've been writing since I was 5 years old and I have a broad education and experience in writing, languages and communication. I'm kind of addicted to learning new things and you can read more about my education and CPD here.
In a previous life, I worked in the London TV industry for four years (at Discovery, Viasat, Sky and Chello Zone). I've also been a Divemaster in Borneo, where I spent my days diving with sharks, turtles and other exotic creatures.
I've lived in English-speaking countries for more than 7 years in total (Australia 3 years + UK 4 years), and still live in a bilingual household. This means I have an intimate knowledge of the culture and really understand idioms, everyday phrases, cultural references and other things that easily become pitfalls for a translator.
These days, I live in the far south of Sweden with my British partner and our two adopted dogs. I love travelling, all kinds of animals, nature, literature, films and TV series, and to be creative in lots of different ways: write, photograph, edit images, design and illustrate. I also run a free book café in my little village with a group of fellow volunteers.
The best way to contact me is to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or to fill in the form to the right. I always reply quickly during office hours.
